01What a certificate is
A certificate from this laboratory is a record of measurement. It states what our instruments measured in one specific sample, on a specific date, against the specification recorded for the panel that was ordered.
That is a narrow and useful thing. It is also the whole of it.
02What it is not
Nothing this laboratory issues is a certification mark, an approval, a registration, or a regulatory clearance. A certificate is not:
- A licence, permit, or authorisation of any kind.
- Approval by the FDA, the DEA, or any other authority. No such body has reviewed our work or endorsed a result.
- A finding that a material is safe, effective, pure enough for any purpose, or lawful to possess, sell or use.
- A statement that a material is fit for human or veterinary use, or for therapeutic, diagnostic or clinical application. It is not, and no result we publish should be read as saying otherwise.
- Medical, veterinary, legal or regulatory advice.
Research use only. Everything we test is handled as research material and every certificate we issue says so. Certificates are intended to be read by qualified professionals, within the scope of their own research, who are capable of judging what a number means.
03It covers one sample, not a lot
We test the material that arrived in our laboratory, identified by the lot code you declared. The certificate describes that material.
It says nothing about:
- Any other vial, including other vials from the same lot.
- Any earlier or later batch.
- The same material after storage, shipping, reconstitution, dilution or repackaging.
- The process, facility or supplier that produced it.
- Anything a third party has done with the material since.
A result cannot be transferred to material we never received. Where a certificate is displayed against a product, the honest claim is that a sample was tested — not that everything sharing the label was.
04What each test answers
Each assay answers one narrow question and is silent on every other. Passing one is not evidence about another.
| Test | Answers | Says nothing about |
|---|---|---|
| Purity by HPLC | What proportion of the detected material is the main peak | What the impurities are, or whether they matter |
| Identity by mass | Whether the mass matches the declared compound | Purity, potency, or biological activity |
| Endotoxin | Bacterial endotoxin against the stated limit | Sterility, other contaminants, or safety |
| Heavy metals | The specific elements screened, at the stated limits | Elements not on the panel |
| Residual solvents | The specific solvents screened | Solvents not on the panel |
| Sterility | Growth under the stated conditions | Endotoxin, or non-culturable organisms |
A certificate reports the assays that were ordered and run. Anything not on it was not tested, and its absence is not a negative result.
05Reproduce it only in full
Certificates may be shared and republished in full. They may not be altered, cropped, redacted, or partially reproduced in a way that changes what they say — including quoting a single favourable figure without the specification it was measured against, or without the fact that it applies to one sample.
If a certificate is corrected, the corrected version supersedes it and carries its own report ID. If one is withdrawn, it stops verifying and should not be relied on or reproduced.
06No accreditation is held or implied
Sycamore Analytical does not hold ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, and this website does not claim it. We are not accredited by any accreditation body, and no result we issue carries an accreditation mark.
If accreditation matters for your purpose — and for some purposes it should — use an accredited laboratory. We would rather say this plainly here than have you discover it later. Where we do hold something real, it will be named on this page and nowhere else.
07Not an endorsement
Testing a sample is not endorsing a product, a seller, or a use.
You may state that material was tested by Sycamore Analytical and reproduce our certificates in full. You may not use our name, marks or certificate design to suggest that we recommend, approve, endorse or vouch for a product or a vendor. We measured a sample; what anyone does with that material is their decision and their responsibility.
08Not a safety or suitability finding
A passing result is not a finding that a material is safe. Purity is not safety. A compound can be exactly what it claims to be, at the purity claimed, and still be unsuitable, hazardous, or unlawful for a given use.
We do not assess toxicity, dosing, biological activity, drug interactions, or fitness for any application. Nobody should treat a certificate from this laboratory as a reason to administer anything to a person or an animal.
09When no value can be reported
Sometimes a figure cannot honestly be given: the material is below the detection limit of the method, the result is outside the validated range, the sample was insufficient, or the run did not meet its own quality criteria.
In those cases the certificate says so rather than showing a number. An absent value is not a passing value, and it is not a failing one. It means the question was not answered, and treating it as an answer is a misreading.
Where a certificate carries no chromatogram, no instrument trace was recorded against it. We do not draw one for appearance — a synthesised trace on a certificate would be a fabricated result, which is a different thing from a missing one.
10Published, private, withdrawn
Certificates exist in one of three states, and what a verification tells an outsider depends on which:
| State | What verification shows |
|---|---|
| Published | The full record: sample, lot, dates, results, and the file |
| Not published | That the ID is genuine and when it was issued. Nothing else. The client has not made the results public, and we will not do it for them. |
| Withdrawn | Nothing. The ID does not resolve. Do not rely on a withdrawn certificate. |
A certificate that comes back "not published" is not a forgery and is not a failed result. It means the client who commissioned it has not chosen to publish, which is their right. If you need to see it, ask whoever gave it to you.
11Checking one is real
Check the register, not the PDF. A PDF can be edited by anyone with the right software, and a convincing forgery takes very little skill. The authoritative record is ours, not the document in your hand.
Enter the report ID at sycamoreanalytical.com/verify. Compare what comes back against the document: the sample, the lot, the dates, and every figure. If they differ in any respect, trust the register and write to us.
There is no page anywhere that lists certificates. Verification takes an exact ID you already hold and returns that one record — so a document that will not verify cannot be explained away as a listing problem.
12What is specimen
Parts of this website show example certificates and example data so that you can see how the service works before using it. These are specimen records: fictitious, illustrative, and for design review only.
Specimen material includes the certificate previews on the marketing and submission pages, the example certificate shown alongside branding profiles, and any chromatogram drawn for illustration. None of it describes a real sample, a real client or a real result.
Real records only ever appear in two places: inside a signed-in client's own portal account, and on the verification page in response to a genuine report ID.
13This website
Content on this site is provided for general information. We keep it current and correct as far as we reasonably can, but we do not warrant that every page is accurate, complete or up to date, and nothing here creates a contract except our terms of service and the policies it names.
Method descriptions, detection limits and turnaround figures shown on marketing pages describe what we normally do. The certificate for your sample is the authoritative statement of what was actually run and what was found.
Where this page and another page disagree, tell us and we will fix the wording rather than rely on whichever version happens to favour us.

If a certificate you were given will not verify, or verifies differently from the document, tell us. We would rather investigate a document that turns out to be genuine than let a forged one circulate under our name.
